The reason for the MS-21 production postponement has been revealed

Aviation expert Oleg Panteleev reported difficulties with the airliner

The medium-haul aircraft MS-21-310, promised for 2026, has been postponed to 2027. Oleg Panteleev, Executive Director of the Aviaport agency, spoke about the situation with the airliner.

He noted that the main difficulties now are not related to the airframe or the power plant, but to the import-substituted systems of the aircraft.

Panteleev clarified that the PD-14 engine was certified back in 2018, but not all onboard systems could be quickly created and prepared for certification — which caused the delay.

Also, the MS-21 still needs to complete a fairly large number of test flights, the industry expert added.

Recall that earlier, Rostec CEO Sergey Chemezov announced that serial production of the MS-21-310 would begin in 2027.
