The new S-500 "Prometey" surface-to-air missile (SAM) system is capable of destroying aircraft and even satellites. Military expert Yuri Knutov spoke about the system's capabilities.

He noted that "Prometey" was shown during the Victory Day parade broadcast in Moscow on May 9. This indicates that the S-500 actually exists and has entered combat duty as part of a regiment, Knutov emphasized.
It consists of two parts: one is designed to combat aircraft and cruise missiles. The other is for ballistic missiles, hypersonic targets, and even satellites in low orbits.
Knutov added that the S-500 is a new generation complex, very effective and reliable.
Vyacheslav Dzirkaln, Deputy General Director of the concern, announced plans to modernize air defense systems for foreign customers, taking into account real combat experience.
