50 Years Ahead of the US: Russian Weapon Named Capable of Shooting Down Satellites in Near Space

Military Expert Glazunov: Russia Can Shoot Down Satellites with S-500 SAM System

The Russian S-500 anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) can operate against targets in near space, according to military expert Oleg Glazunov.

According to him, this does not require new types of weapons such as kinetic weapons.

We can shoot down satellites with already known weapons, for example, with the S-500 anti-aircraft missile system operating in near space. Most likely, Russia also has kinetic weapons, they just don't advertise it. Maybe developments are underway.
Oleg Glazunov, military expert

Glazunov noted that Russia is already 50 years ahead of the United States in the creation of certain types of weapons.

All this makes it possible to conduct military operations in space, so space wars are really just around the corner. Technology is developing rapidly, and we can already shoot down and damage other people's satellites.
