Layouts of the newest S-500 "Prometheus" anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) have appeared online. The images provide a detailed look at the complex's structure.
The S-500 "Prometheus" SAM system, manufactured by the VKO "Almaz-Antey" concern, is designed to engage all existing and future air and space attack weapons of a potential enemy across the entire range of altitudes and speeds.
Specialist training for operating it has been underway since 2017. The S-500 will replace the S-400 "Triumph" SAM system.
Characteristics of the S-500 "Prometheus" SAM:
- Platform: mobile
- Target detection range: 800 kilometers
- Combat radius: 600 kilometers
- Number of missiles: 2-4 units
- Maximum speed of target engagement: 7 km\/s
- Maximum target engagement altitude: 200 km
