Sukhoi Design Bureau revealed how neural networks are used in combat aviation

Hero of Russia Bogdan: AI already helps pilots with target selection and defense

Artificial intelligence systems are already helping combat aviation pilots with target selection, as well as in defensive actions. This was reported by Sergey Bogdan, chief test pilot of Sukhoi Design Bureau within OAK, Hero of Russia.

In his opinion, there will not be a one-time discrete transition to AI, but at present, neural networks are involved in making certain decisions during combat operations.

It is AI that identifies the most dangerous targets, provides certain prompts, and moreover, sometimes it directly participates in some defensive actions, even without the pilot's involvement.

Bogdan added that the introduction of neural networks into combat aviation has become a natural process and a response to modern challenges.

Rosoboronexport noted that Sukhoi Design Bureau regularly works to improve the Su-57E fighter in terms of its equipment with modern onboard equipment, including AI elements.
