18 critical technologies and 13 new materials have been developed for the new heavy aircraft engine PD-35. This was announced by the United Engine Corporation.
Also, in the development of the power plant, ODK specialists, together with the All-Russian Research Institute of Aviation Materials, developed three new coatings.
Aviation expert Roman Gusarov explained to "Pervy Tekhnichesky" that the PD-35 engine will be the pinnacle of domestic technologies, and its development is more complex than launching a rocket into space.
At the same time, aviation engineer Valery Ageev stated that the PD-35 does not yet live up to high expectations, producing 26 tons of thrust instead of the promised 35 tons.
Meanwhile, Russia currently lacks production facilities and test benches for testing PD-35 project engines. The diameter of the power plant's fan alone is more than three meters.
