The new Russian Project 22350 frigate "Admiral Amelko" has been equipped with a modernized munitions load, thanks to which its combat load has doubled compared with its predecessors. This was reported by the Pacific Fleet newspaper "Boyevaya Vakhta".
The main difference of "Admiral Amelko" is four universal shipborne vertical launch systems instead of two, which allows it to carry up to 32 missiles of various types, from "Kalibr" cruise missiles to hypersonic "Tsirkon" missiles.
This significantly increases the ship's potential in fighting both surface and coastal targets, as well as in delivering lightning strikes at strategic range.
According to Aleksandr Stepanov, an expert at the RANEPA Institute of Law and National Security, the frigate also received the advanced anti-submarine system "Otvet", which makes it possible to destroy submarines if they are detected outside the range of their onboard systems.
The system uses the 91RE2 ballistic missile, which delivers an MPT-1UM 324-mm torpedo to a range of up to 40 km.
By the end of 2026, two new Project 22350 frigates will be laid down in Russia — "Admiral Kapitanets" and "Admiral Vysotsky".
