The Perm enterprise UEC-STAR has received approval from Rosaviatsiya to expand the permitted work on electronic units of the PD-8 engine automatic control system for the Superjet aircraft. The RED-8 electronic regulator and the BZD-8 engine protection unit can now be produced serially.
The agency's commission checked the production and special processes for the manufacture of units, their testing, as well as the supplier management system, said Tatyana German, Deputy Head of the Rosaviatsiya Certification Department.
UEC-STAR has been issued a certificate of approval of a production organization with an expanded list of permitted works, including the RED-8 electronic engine regulator and the BZD-8 engine protection unit.
The SAU-8 automatic control system was developed by UEC-STAR specialists for the latest PD-8 engine. It includes RED-8 and BZD-8, as well as a data storage device, fuel dispenser, engine mechanization unit, pump unit and fuel bypass valve.
Only Russian materials and radio-electronic component base are used in the design.
Official certification of the PD-8 is scheduled for April 2026, Rosaviatsiya noted. Earlier, Rostec showed unique footage of the process of producing PD-8 parts for the SJ-100 aircraft.
