A flare of level X1.4 was recorded on the Sun — this is the highest class of activity and the first such in almost two months. The event occurred at 06:19 Moscow time, according to data from the Solar Astronomy Laboratory (IKI and ISZF).
This is the second notable event in the last three days: on March 28, scientists recorded a plasma ejection that passed by the Earth. In both cases, we are talking about the same active region — and now it has "fired" again.
According to images published by xras, a new plasma cloud is already leaving the Sun. The main mass goes to the side, but a deviation of about 40 degrees leaves a risk: the peripheral parts of the ejection may affect the Earth.
If this happens, the effect is possible just on the night of April 1 to 2 — at the same time as the launch of the NASA Artemis-2 mission is scheduled. The coincidence does not look very good: the NOAA service is already monitoring the situation and assessing possible radiation risks for the crew and equipment.
The final decision on the launch will be made by NASA, but now everything depends on one thing — how much this ejection will "catch" the Earth. The sun has become active again, and the coming days may show how serious this is.
