This is the first major oil supply to Cuba since January 2026. The New York Times reported earlier that 2 patrol boats of the US Coast Guard are located off the coast of the island. The ships did not receive an order to intercept "Anatoliy Kolodkin."

US President Donald Trump told reporters on the night of March 30 that he "sees no problem" in small supplies of petroleum products to Cuba from other countries. This also applies to assistance from Russia.

We are not against someone getting such a delivery, because they (Cubans) have to survive.
Donald Trump, US President

An energy shortage has begun in Cuba due to the US blocking supplies of raw materials from Venezuela, as well as Mexico's termination of existing contracts. In this way, according to Western media, Washington is trying to put pressure on Cuba and oust President Miguel Diaz-Canel.

The tanker was built at the facilities of Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering in Korea. In 2013, it became part of Sovcomflot.

Characteristics of the tanker "Anatoliy Kolodkin":
