LazerBuzz Laser Air Defense Integrated with Radar for the First Time: Shoots Down Drones at a Range of 1 km

The complex includes early detection, guidance, and engagement systems

The new Russian LazerBuzz laser system for destroying kamikaze drones has been integrated with a radar station for the first time. Now, the "Posokh" project complex is capable of shooting down even maneuvering small FPV drones, according to the developer company.

In fact, laser air defense has now become a ready-made product for use.

We conducted internal tests, during which the system showed high efficiency against maneuvering kamikaze drones. UAVs flying at a speed of 130–140 km/h were hit at a distance of about a kilometer.

The company added that they are cooperating with a domestic manufacturer of early detection acoustic systems. Nothing is yet known about potential customers of the laser complex.

As a reminder, the system works by physically affecting UAVs based on focused ytterbium radiation technology. Initially, LazerBuzz hit drones at a range of 700 m, and then the range increased to 1 km.
