Specialists from the Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense (NBC Defense) troops of the Baltic Fleet used the Universal Special Treatment Station (USSO) and RHM-6 reconnaissance chemical vehicles in exercises. This was reported by the fleet's press service.
NBC Defense servicemen used the RHM-6 to take soil samples and carry out dosimetric (radiation level monitoring) and chemical control of the soil and water bodies (search for and quantitative assessment of the content of toxic substances). After discovering a conditionally contaminated area, the military carried out decontamination of the area. For this, a USSO on a KamAZ chassis was used.
NBC Defense specialists fulfilled the standards for aerosol masking, countering the guidance systems of high-precision weapons of a mock enemy, and technical reconnaissance equipment.
More than 100 people were involved in the maneuvers, and about 10 units of equipment were used.
