Orlan-10 reconnaissance drones become invulnerable to interceptors

Calculations track the approach of other UAVs using the Ornithologist system

Russian Orlan-10 reconnaissance drones are now virtually invulnerable to attacks by interceptor drones thanks to a built-in collision warning system. Lieutenant Ural Khabirov, the head of the calculation, spoke about the details of the complex.

According to him, interceptor drones are the main threat to Orlan. They deliberately hunt for scouts.

In this duel, calculations are assisted by colleagues from electronic warfare units. Using the Ornithologist air monitoring system, they intercept signals from "hunters". As soon as someone else's drone is nearby, the Orlan operator receives a warning and evades.

It is almost impossible to find a camouflaged gun in a forest belt. The chance appears at the moment of the shot. This allows you to localize the square, and then re-reconnaissance begins until we catch the target completely.

The military said that the maintenance of Orlans takes no more than half an hour — from landing to a new launch. Drones run on regular 95 gasoline and look like a small plane. They are practically invulnerable to electronic warfare equipment.
