Yandex continues to scale up robot delivery: Nizhny Novgorod and several locations in the Moscow Region — Khimki, Lyubertsy, Odintsovo, and Dolgoprudny — will soon be added to the cities where it already operates. The coverage area will also be expanded in Kazan.
Since launching in 2020, the robots have already covered more than two million kilometers and delivered over one million orders. Now the company is moving on to the next stage — broader mass deployment.
The rollout in the new locations will begin as early as spring: in the Moscow Region and Kazan — in April, and in Nizhny Novgorod — by the end of June. At first, the robots will carry orders from Yandex Lavka; later, Yandex Eda and Yandex Dostavka will join in.
Before the launch, special mapping robots are already traveling around the districts — they create detailed maps of the area so that the delivery robots can navigate confidently in any conditions and not get lost even at night or in bad weather.
Fourth-generation robots will operate in the new cities — more capable off-road, with improved sensors, and at the same time cheaper to manufacture. These are the first Yandex models to be produced on a mass scale.
The company plans to produce up to 20 thousand of these robots by 2027. Thanks to scale, delivery is gradually becoming cheaper and has already come very close in cost to regular couriers.
