Yandex Weather has launched an AI chat based on Alice AI technology — it helps not just view the forecast, but make decisions based on the weather. The feature is already available on the website and in the app for all users.
Now the service can suggest how to dress before going out, whether to take an umbrella, or when is the best time to start the cycling season. The AI takes into account weather conditions and gives recommendations for specific situations — from walks to trips and everyday activities.
During testing, users most often asked about the forecast for the day or week, but also asked everyday questions: for example, whether it is possible to make a snowman or how to dress a child. The chat adapts to such scenarios and gives clear answers without complex weather reports.
The AI itself chooses which data to use — from short-term forecasts to climate statistics. In its answers, it can take into account the precipitation map and automatically adjust to the level of detail — from short tips to detailed explanations.
At the same time, the system focuses on the user's geolocation and gives recommendations not just for the city, but for a specific area — without manual input.
The work is based on more than 100 weather parameters, including humidity, wind, and their combinations. The neural network also uses an archive of data for decades, which allows it to take into account not only the current weather, but also long-term trends.
