Scammers have become active in anticipation of the April indexation of social pensions by 6.8%. This was reported on March 22 by RIA Novosti, citing Galaktion Kuchava, an expert at the Moshelovka platform of the Popular Front. The schemes are mainly aimed at elderly citizens and exploit the desire to receive an increase in their pensions. The attacks are also spreading through messengers.
Scammers use several legends. The first is messages about allegedly unaccounted for work experience with the promise of not only an April increase, but also large compensation for past years, provided that an application is submitted urgently.
The second is pseudo-lawyers who impose paid services on elderly people to process pension recalculations and charge tens of thousands of rubles for this.
The information agenda related to state payments traditionally becomes a topic for fraudulent schemes - the beginning of 2026 confirms this pattern, Kuchava noted. The indexation of social pensions is scheduled for April.
