Construction of Turkey's first nuclear power plant is actively underway. At the Akkuyu site, workers installed a key reactor shaft element — the support truss, placing it into its design position. This was reported by Rosatom's press service.
The installation of large-sized components requires serious preparatory work: it is necessary to take all meteorological factors into account and ensure the readiness of the supporting steel structures, equipment, and qualified personnel.
The workers completed the enlarged assembly and welding of the support truss. Then, over the course of several hours, they carried out the installation. The reactor shaft will now be filled with specially formulated concrete.
The support truss is a welded steel structure that secures the reactor vessel inside the concrete shaft. The reactor vessel is firmly fixed in it with the help of a support ring.
Rosatom subsidiary Akkuyu Nuclear operates at the Akkuyu NPP. Russian specialists are preparing Unit No. 1 for startup. It is scheduled to be commissioned in 2026. To accomplish this task, specialists from Rosenergoatom and TITAN-2 have joined the project.
