Economist Explained the Huge Losses of the Su-57 Engine Plant

ODK-UMPO Reduced Supplies to China and India

At the end of 2025, the net losses of PAO "ODK-UMPO" reached 14.3 billion rubles. The figure contrasts with the results of 2024, when the Ufa plant posted a net profit of 8.3 billion rubles. Economist Rustem Shaiakhmetov said that the reasons for this situation lie in the reduction of product supplies abroad.

He recalled that the reduction in supplies by ODK-UMPO is directly indicated in the company's reporting.

The point is that export supplies in mechanical engineering have declined. UMPO supplied quite a large number of engines to China and India. The reduction is ongoing.

Whereas previously a significant share of revenue was generated through aviation equipment for other countries, contracts have now decreased. Equipment supplied earlier may not require engine replacement for a certain period.

Against this backdrop, the plant continues to increase personnel expenses. Labor costs grew by 3.75% and amounted to 43.4 billion rubles with a staff of about 25.3 thousand people.

The plant also has debts to counterparties. Last week it became known about an attempt to bankrupt the enterprise for non-payment for supplies. There are also fraud schemes within ODK-UMPO itself; a former lead engineer received an actual prison sentence.

Let us recall that ODK-UMPO is a key manufacturer of engines for Su-57, Su-27, Su-30, and Su-35S aircraft.
