Robots were put to work by a 1500°C furnace at the Magnitogorsk plant

The main goal is to improve industrial safety in metallurgical production

A robotic system for working in an ultra-high-temperature zone has been launched in the oxygen-converter shop of the Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK).

The equipment automates the process of installing and replacing measuring units on converter No. 1 — it now takes only 2.5 minutes. The device operates in immediate proximity to the unit, where the temperature exceeds 1500°C.

The robot ensures high precision when replacing the units and makes it possible to promptly obtain data on the smelting parameters. The main goal of the project is to improve industrial safety: personnel involvement in this operation has been completely eliminated.
