Anniversary BMZ locomotives received unique designs

The 2TE25KM-800 and 3TE28-100 diesel locomotives were decorated with a geometric ornament and an image of the Amur tiger

A vibrant presentation of two anniversary mainline freight diesel locomotives took place at the Bryansk Machine-Building Plant. The 2TE25KM-800 unit received a concise geometric ornament on its body. The 3TE28-100 locomotive was styled in the image of the Amur tiger — the design serves as a reminder of the importance of protecting rare animals in the Far East, where such locomotives most often operate.

The 2TE25KM mainline freight diesel locomotive has been mass-produced at the Bryansk Machine-Building Plant since 2015. The locomotive is designed to haul trains weighing up to 6,400 tonnes at temperatures from –50 °C to +40 °C.

Serial production of the 3TE28 at BMZ began in 2023. It is the most powerful domestic diesel locomotive with a diesel engine, capable of hauling freight weighing up to 7,100 tonnes in the harsh conditions of Russian Railways' Eastern Polygon. The middle section of the hundredth 3TE28 locomotive is fitted with the anniversary, 300th 18-9DGM engine.

The unique color schemes, applied mostly by hand, will help popularize rail transport and add aesthetics to modern main lines. The 2TE25KM-800 locomotive will be assigned to the Tyumen depot on the Sverdlovsk Railway, while the 3TE28-100 will be sent to the Tynda depot on the Far Eastern Railway.
