American corporation RTX has for the first time presented the appearance of the sixth-generation F-47 fighter, which is being developed by Boeing. The main surprise is the front horizontal tail, the so-called "canard" aerodynamic configuration, which the United States had fundamentally abandoned for three decades. The Russian Su-57 and the Chinese J-20 use the same tail, according to the Telegram channel "Winged".
F-22, F-35, B-2 were built without "canards" for maximum stealth: any additional planes increase radar visibility. Europeans (Rafale, Eurofighter) and Chinese (J-20) installed this tail, but American experts considered it incompatible with stealth technologies.
The return to the "canard" on the American sixth-generation fighter is a recognition: the previous dogmas about the balance of stealth and maneuverability need to be revised. The Russian Su-57 and the Chinese J-20 are already flying with such a tail, and the Americans realized: it is indispensable in the next generation of close combat.
