The French fighter Rafale is a combat aircraft from the last century, and against the background of Su-57, it looks like a technique of the previous generation. This was stated by Ruslan Pukhov, Director of the Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies (TsAST).
He recalled that only two countries, the United States and Russia, are mass-producing fifth-generation fighters tested in combat.
Pukhov is confident that India's decision to purchase an additional 114 Rafale fighters for a record amount of approximately $36 billion will not prevent the acquisition of Su-57.
At the same time, the analyst recalled that the diversity of the fighter fleet is commonplace for India. Currently, its arsenal includes domestic Su-30MKI and MiG-29 fighters, as well as French Rafale and Mirage 2000, and Indian Tejas.
Indian media reported that the country's Air Force intends to purchase up to 40 Su-57 aircraft against the background of France's refusal to provide the source code for Rafale. For its part, Russia offers not only a complete transfer of technology, but also localization of production in India.
