Indian authorities are considering purchasing up to 40 fifth-generation Su-57 combat aircraft from Russia to enhance the combat capabilities of their Air Force. This was reported by the Indian TV channel NDTV.
According to NDTV, the purchase of Su-57 is being considered as a potential measure to strengthen the republic's aircraft fleet in the face of growing regional security challenges.
Su-57 has a number of features that ensure stealth. These sophisticated aircraft are also equipped with specialized weaponry to ensure "low visibility", as well as advanced data fusion technologies from sensors and supersonic cruising capabilities.
Earlier, the media also reported that France refused to grant India access to the source code of Rafale fighters. The American F-35 assumes complete dependence on the United States in matters of operation and integration of weapons, and does not include the transfer of technology.
These factors may play in favor of choosing to purchase the Su-57, for which Russia offers not only full technology transfer, but also localization of production in India.
Su-57 is the only fifth-generation fighter in the world that has proven effective in countering Western air defense systems, Rostec emphasized.
