Specialists of the experimental plant of the Oktyabrskaya Railway, together with the Directorate of Emergency Recovery Facilities, created a jib crane based on the KS-5671 crawler crane. The structure was installed on a four-axle flat wagon with an axial load of 23.5 tons, reinforcing the assembly with a transitional frame. The lifting capacity of the new crane is 5 tons, and the time to bring it into working position is 22 minutes.

After the completion of the autumn operational tests, the prototype was transferred to the park of the Directorate of Emergency Recovery Facilities of the Oktyabrskaya Railway. The machine will operate as part of recovery trains and perform loading and unloading of light elements of wagons, primarily bogies, during emergency response.

The development solves a key task - it eliminates the need to use heavy EDK-1000 cranes (up to 125 tons) and Sokol cranes (up to 80 tons) for oversized cargo. The new crane is four times lighter, three times faster to put into operation and requires fewer personnel.

Based on the experience gained, the Oktyabrskaya Railway is preparing an official appeal to Russian machine builders to develop mass production of such small-sized cranes. The feasibility study of the project will be ready by July 2026. The volume of the possible order is currently not disclosed.
