Turret Removed from T-72B3 Tanks: Russian Soldiers' Ingenuity is Astonishing

Combat vehicles transformed into APCs with serious drone protection

Photos of an amazing T-72B3 tank without a turret and gun have appeared online. Apparently, the soldiers have finally turned the combat vehicle into a heavy armored personnel carrier.

The footage shows that the hull protection of this "Frankenstein" is very serious - "Kontakt-1" dynamic protection blocks are visible in the side view.

The landing site of the tank turret has been transformed into a troop compartment for personnel. This area is also tightly covered with "barbecue grills", and the tank is additionally protected from above by braided metal cables, aptly nicknamed "hedgehog". In addition, there are electronic warfare systems installed on the roof.

What is the problem with this layout?

It should be noted that, unlike specialized APCs, the T-72 has its engine in the rear. Personnel have to climb in and out through the top hatches or the turret "nest", which makes them vulnerable.

Do not forget that the tank was originally designed to be as low and compact as possible. The internal space is not designed to accommodate a group of equipped soldiers, which limits the number of troops and comfort during long marches.

Also, the T-72 has a low reverse speed - only 4.5 km/h. In the event of damage, the vehicle cannot quickly move back, which is critical for a vehicle delivering infantry.
