Diesel-electric icebreakers of FSUE "Rosmorport" have successfully conducted more than 2.5 thousand ships in 16 ports of the country since the beginning of the winter navigation of 2025-2026. The main volume of work fell on the icy Gulf of Finland, where icebreakers ensured the passage of over 1,437 ships. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Transport of Russia.
On February 18, the icebreaker «Murmansk» (project 21900M) arrived in the Gulf of Finland to escort ships, and the universal nuclear icebreaker «Siberia» (project 22220) also began operating. The total capacity of the icebreaker group reached 188 MW.
In the Sea of Azov, icebreakers conducted 779 ships, using 6 units of the icebreaker fleet. Icebreakers of project 1191 — «Captain Moshkin», «Captain Chudinov», «Captain Demidov» and the tug «Georgy Sedov» operate in the ports of Azov, Rostov-on-Don and Taganrog. Also in Yeysk, the icebreaker «Captain Krutov» (project 1105) and the icebreaker-tug «Fanagoria» (project P-47) are involved.
On the Volga-Caspian Sea Shipping Canal, icebreakers of project 1105 «Captain Chechkin» and «Captain Bukaev», as well as «Captain Metsaik» (project 1191) ensured the passage of 269 ships.
In the White Sea, icebreakers «Captain Evdokimov» (project 1191) and «Captain Chadaev» (project 1105) conducted 105 ships to and from the seaport of Arkhangelsk. In the port of Vanino, a similar number of ships were conducted by icebreakers «Saint-Petersburg» (project 21900) «Magadan». The icebreaker «Moscow» (project 21900) ensured navigation safety for 17 ships in the port of Magadan.
In total, the accessibility of 16 freezing seaports located in the Gulf of Finland, Azov, Caspian, White, Okhotsk Seas and the Tatar Strait is provided by 30 icebreakers and 2 ice-class tugs of Rosmorport, they guarantee the smooth operation of Russia's maritime transport infrastructure.
