The company "Chelyabkranservis", specializing in railway cranes, has begun running tests of an experienced traction module, created by updating a two-axle track repair machine MPRP of the early 2000s from the Istyinsky Machine-Building Plant.
The modernization affected the engine, transmission, chassis and brakes. In the future, it is planned to improve the cabin to improve visibility and operator comfort.
The module is designed for traction up to 65 tons on access roads - this is one loaded or several empty wagons. The D-240 diesel power plant with a capacity of 79 kW provides a speed of up to 50 km/h, overcoming slopes of 60‰ and curves with a radius of 40 m.
The equipment is intended for non-public roads without mandatory certification. The characteristics will be confirmed in further tests at the company's facilities.
The development is based on 20 years of experience in the repair and modernization of cranes since its foundation in 2005. Recently, the company adapted a four-axle chassis from EDK-25 for the PMSU-01 snowplow with a rotating brush 3 m wide.
