New High-Capacity Electric Bus MAZ 305E to be Unveiled in 2026

The project is being implemented by Belarusian MAZ and the Russian company "Itelma"

Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ), in collaboration with the Russian company "Itelma," is working on creating a new version of a unique high-capacity electric bus in a third-generation body — MAZ 305E. The first prototype is planned to be presented in 2026. This was reported by the company's press service.

The future MAZ 305E is being created on a unified frame, which allows for the construction of various modifications of other vehicles on its base. This will also open up the possibility of producing third-generation "accordion" buses on different types of fuel.

It is worth noting that the first electric bus of the MAZ 303E23 model underwent testing in March 2025. Already in December, 100 units of electric buses were delivered to St. Petersburg.

The production of the MAZ 303E23 electric bus is 100% localized. The frame, front axle, interior details, electrical equipment, software, and key systems are produced in Belarus. The 204 hp electric motor and battery with a range of at least 240 km are Russian.

The electric bus is equipped with a simple and convenient night charging system that does not require additional recharging at the final stops. This allows it to travel the same distance as diesel buses. Charging takes from three to five hours, which eliminates the need for daytime downtime.

The electric bus is also equipped with advanced telematics systems of Russian production by LLC "Service Center Transtelematics" (GC "Itelma"). Within the framework of factory assembly, a multi-service transport platform is integrated for the first time, including GPS/GLONASS navigation and cashless payment systems, media screens, and passenger information systems (passenger counting and video surveillance).

The electric bus is a low-floor model. Its step height is only 32 cm, and it is equipped with a kneeling system (tilting to the curb) to facilitate passenger boarding and alighting. For people with limited mobility, there is a mechanical ramp and a special place for a wheelchair.
