Testing of the first three new Mi-34M1 helicopters will be completed by the end of the year, after which serial production of the aircraft is planned. This was reported by Marat Nurliev, head of the project at the Vertolety Rossii holding company (part of Rostec).
According to him, the company has already almost finished building two helicopters. One is undergoing certification, while the second still remains "tethered".
Based on the results of these tests, we plan to move to serial production after 2026.
Nurliev recalled that the Mi-34M1 is intended for passenger transportation and search-and-rescue operations. With additional equipment installed, it can also be used as a training helicopter.
Rostec stated that the Mi-34M1 with the VK-650V engine will fill a high-demand transportation niche where previously only foreign models were represented in Russia — Robinson, Bell, and others.
