Six New Productions: UAZ Launches Largest Modernization in History in 2026-2027

Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant (UAZ) is preparing for an unprecedented modernization: in 2026–2027, six new production facilities will open at the enterprise, and investments from the Sollers Group will exceed 12 billion rubles. The key event will be the launch of the new Sollers S9 frame SUV, scheduled for the end of August — beginning of September 2026.

One of the first major projects will be the launch of a new press line, which is planned for May–June 2026. It will allow stamping body parts for almost all models of the plant — from Sollers ST6, ST8 and ST9 pickups to the new S9 SUV. At the same time, UAZ will open production of safety system components and seats, expand welding areas for parts for pickups and SUVs, and implement projects for welding frames and spars.

The most significant stage of modernization will be the construction of a painting complex, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2027.

As emphasized by Adil Shirinov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sollers, there have been no such transformations at UAZ in the entire history of the enterprise. The strategic goal is to make the plant a multi-brand platform with the production of various equipment: from pickups and SUVs to trucks and buses.

The modernization also provides for a complete production cycle for the new SUV with minimal time gaps between stages, including the organization of stamping of body elements directly in Ulyanovsk. According to the Governor of the Ulyanovsk Region, Alexei Russkikh, investments in the project will amount to about 12.5 billion rubles, and about five thousand people work at the enterprise.

With the launch of Sollers S9 and new production facilities, UAZ will not only strengthen its position in the SUV market, but also make a significant contribution to the region's economy, creating new jobs and strengthening the industrial potential of the Ulyanovsk region.
