Sukremlinsky Iron Foundry JSC manufactured several thousand locomotive shoes in December 2025. This was reported in the press service of the enterprise.
The plant exceeded the monthly plan. More than half of the products are intended for foreign customers.
Locomotive cast iron crest block "type M" is an important element of the locomotive braking system, designed for effective deceleration and stopping of rolling stock. It provides reliable friction against the wheel surface, converting the kinetic energy of the train into thermal energy and providing controlled braking.
The weight of each shoe is 14.7 kg, they are made of special cast iron that meets the requirements of GOST 30249-97. Each batch of shoes undergoes strict quality control at the Technical Audit Center (authorized by Russian Railways OJSC) to ensure the quality of purchased products.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the first GOST for a high-speed electric train for the HSR-1 will be approved in September 2026.
