A bill has been introduced in the State Duma regarding changes to articles of the Code of Administrative Offenses (CAO) of Russia. Deputies believe that the current system for processing drivers with signs of intoxication requires too many documents, which complicates the work of inspectors.
Traffic police officers must fill out three to five different documents to record such an offense. Each registration takes about five minutes. In 2024, the number of cases of this kind amounted to 403.5 thousand.
Deputies want to allow inspectors to replace some protocols with special marks in other documents. For example, they will be able to make notes on the detention of a vehicle and the removal of a driver from driving directly in the protocol on the offense.
According to the calculations of the authors of the bill, the rejection of excessive documents will help save up to 33.6 thousand working hours per year for officials. It will also reduce the cost of printing forms.
