The Zvezdochka Ship Repair Center, part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC), has confirmed its participation in the creation of the Synergy gas tanker (formerly LNG-4). According to the company, the enterprise will supply a marine propeller - one of the key elements of the running gear of the new vessel.
The project was created by the Nevsky Design Bureau of the United Shipbuilding Corporation and symbolizes the transition to deep localization of the civil fleet. About 90% of components and equipment will be manufactured in Russia. Other domestic companies are also involved in the project. For example, the Russian company GTI will manufacture a gas membrane - a key element of the liquefied natural gas storage system.
Low-speed marine engines, which ensure energy efficiency and range, are being developed jointly by the USC engineering unit and the USC-Movement Product Specialization Center. The energy installation and cargo system of the gas carrier are also entirely of Russian production.
The Synergy gas tanker will be able to transport up to 170 thousand cubic meters of LNG at speeds up to 19.5 knots. Its hull, 299 meters long and 47 meters wide, is designed from 18 large sections, which simplifies assembly and increases the manufacturability of construction.
