On January 12 at 01:28 Moscow time, an M1.3 flare (S07E89) lasting 7 minutes was recorded in the X-ray range. At 02:14 Moscow time, an M3.4 flare (S13E89) lasting 99 minutes was recorded in the X-ray range.

The last flare was the strongest since the beginning of 2026. It was recorded on the far side of the Sun.

According to astronomers, the source of the flare was beyond the horizon. Therefore, some of the radiation from the upper layers of the solar atmosphere still reached the Earth.

It is worth noting that the full power of the event should be higher. But it is not possible to accurately measure the indicators - there are no satellites on the far side of the Sun.

Earlierwww1.ru reported that the Northern Lights will beseen by residents of the central and northern regions of Russia.
