"Complete madness" - astronomers baffled: a powerful flare occurred on the Sun on December 1

The X1.9 flare was recorded in solar region No. 4274

A class X flare, the highest level, has occurred on the Sun for the second time in two weeks. This was reported by the press service of the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of IKI and ISZF.

Flares of the highest level X have resumed on the Sun. Today, early in the morning, at 5:49 Moscow time, a new event of class X1.9 was recorded.

Astronomers called what is happening "complete madness" because the explosion was again recorded in region No. 4274 of the Sun. It was here that all the activity of the star has been forming over the past two months, including the X5.1 flare of November 11 and the X4.0 of November 14.

According to experts, "completely inexplicable bottomless reserves of energy" are observed in region No. 4274.

An additional negative factor is the presence of a second large active region No. 4294 in the southern hemisphere of the Sun, which, apparently, is the largest this year.

If explosions begin in region No. 4294, December will go down in the history of solar physics.
