The Moscow Tram Diameter T2 from the Novogireevo MCC to the Chertanovskaya metro station is planned to be created in the capital in 2026. This was announced by the Mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin.
This will be the new longest urban tram diameter in the world - 33 km.
Two more tram lines will appear in the northeast and east of the city by the end of 2027. The first line will run along the Entuziastov Highway from 3rd Vladimirskaya Street to the Ivanovskoye district. The second route will be laid along Akademika Koroleva Street to the television center and the Ostankino MCC station.
In 2026, the capital's authorities plan to purchase 50 "Lvovonok-Moscow" trams to update the public transport fleet. No old models will be left on city routes.
By 2030, two-thirds of the Moscow tram fleet will be equipped with unmanned technologies.
