The American Patriot surface-to-air missile system is a very formidable weapon, but by no means a "wunderwaffe." This was stated by military expert Aleksandr Kots.
He pointed out that fighter-bombers operate with FAB bombs from distances exceeding the engagement radius of the air defense system. At the same time, the system's mobility is not very high; it has to be constantly moved from place to place so that its position is not detected by long-range aerial reconnaissance.
And to disable the "Patriot," it is enough to hit its radar. Which we have already done repeatedly. It has already become obvious that it is no kind of "wunderwaffe."
Earlier, Kots explained that the latest Su-57 fighters are capable of easily destroying Patriot radar stations with Kh-58UShK missiles. According to him, the launch is carried out toward the radar area, and then the Kh-58UShK will find it on its own.
And without the radar, the entire Patriot air defense battery worth a billion bucks turns into a pumpkin.
Rostec head Sergey Chemezov emphasized that the Su-57 is the only aircraft in the world capable of operating within Patriot's range. He did not provide details, but apparently such capabilities are ensured for the combat aircraft by its unique stealth characteristics.
