Specialists at AO Reshetnev — the leading enterprise of the Roskosmos State Corporation — have completed the development of a new control unit for the onboard control complex (BU BKU) for the promising Express-RV spacecraft.
The new unit combines the functions of a traditional control module and an onboard digital computer (BTsVM), meaning it effectively serves as the central onboard computer. It is the BTsVM that is responsible for the logic of the satellite's operation in all flight modes — from launch to normal operation in orbit.
The onboard control complex, in turn, ensures the coordinated operation of all onboard systems and handles the reception of commands from ground control stations. Thanks to the integration of two key functions into a single device, the engineers managed not only to simplify the spacecraft's instrument configuration, but also to reduce its mass while simultaneously increasing computing performance.
The development was carried out using modern domestic processors and unique software created in-house by AO Reshetnev specialists.
