RSD 49 project dry cargo vessel "Caspian Coast" to join the fleet of the Russian-Iranian shipping company in the first half of 2026

The vessel with a 50-meter hold will expand logistics capabilities in the Caspian Sea and beyond

The Southern Center of Shipbuilding and Ship Repair of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) will complete the construction of the RSD 49 project universal dry cargo vessel "Caspian Coast" and hand it over to the customer — the Russian-Iranian Shipping Company — in the first half of 2026. This was reported by the USC press service.

It is noted that the vessel will be launched from the stocks of the "Lotos" production site and will become part of the fleet of the company specializing in international maritime transportation between Russia and Iran.

USC paid special attention to the design feature of the "Caspian Coast": an elongated middle hold with a length of over 50 meters is provided on board, designed for transporting oversized and heavy cargo. This makes the vessel in demand for transportation requiring non-standard logistics solutions.

According to technical characteristics, RSD 49 project universal dry cargo vessels are capable of transporting a wide range of cargo — from grain and timber to bulk, general, dangerous and oversized cargo. Vessels of this type are certified to operate in the waters of the Caspian, Black, Mediterranean, Baltic, White and Northern Seas, and are also capable of making voyages around Europe, including sailing in the Irish Sea even in winter.
