A company subordinate to the Ministry of Transport of the DPR will launch suburban railway transportation in Donbass and Novorossiya in 2026. The Minister of Transport of the republic, Alexander Bondarenko, stated that it will be engaged in communication with other regions of Russia.
During 2026, [the enterprise] should begin full-fledged economic and financial activities and already carry out transportation within our four historical regions with a potential exit to adjacent regions and with further development of passenger traffic throughout the Russian Federation.
The project is being developed jointly with "Railways of Novorossiya." The authorities want to establish a unified system of suburban transportation for the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye, and Kherson regions. According to the minister, serious work is planned, and the authorities understand how to achieve the set goals.
Bondarenko said that the DPR is developing technical regulations for the resumption of passenger railway transportation. The process is being carried out in cooperation with the Rostov region, which will further strengthen transport links between the regions.
