Russian engineers have equipped Geran kamikaze drones with a self-destruct system. This was reported by Reporter, citing sources.
There are no details about the self-destruction system yet. But it can be concluded that the modernization of the Gerans continues.
These kamikaze drones have already received an increased warhead, and have begun to be equipped with jet engines, video cameras and an auto-guidance module.
Alexander Stepanov, an employee of the Institute of Law and National Security of the RANEPA, noted that the Gerans are capable of carrying R-74M2 missiles for the Su-57 fighter. If this becomes possible, the Gerans will become a full-fledged threat not only to ground targets, but also to aircraft.
According to preliminary estimates, the monthly production of Geran-2 drones in Russia has reached a stable level of 6,500–7,500 units.
