Unmanned Aircraft Systems Center to Open in Kazan

Production facility will appear on the basis of KNRTU

The authorities of Tatarstan have approved the construction of a scientific and production center (SPC) for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) in Kazan. The document, signed by the Prime Minister of the Republic, Alexey Pesoshin, is published in the Unified State Register of Expert Opinions of Project Documentation of Capital Construction Projects (GIS EGRZ).

The project, with a total cost of more than 2 billion rubles, will be developed by specialists from the State Unitary Enterprise of the Republic of Tatarstan "Tatinvestgrazhdanproekt". The Ministry of Economy of Tatarstan is responsible for its implementation.

Construction will begin in 2026. 1.474 billion rubles will be allocated from the federal budget for these purposes, and another 550 million rubles will be added from the republican treasury.

The SPC will appear on the basis of the Kazan National Research Technical University (KNRTU, formerly the Kazan Aviation Institute).

The center will unite:

  • production complex
  • laboratory complex
  • flight test center
  • certification center
  • situation center for tracking UAV flights
