Two multipurpose drones developed by DSTU and Rostvertol specialists

Drones are made of carbon fiber and aluminum

Specialists from the Scientific and Technical Center for Unmanned Aircraft Systems of the Don State Technical University (STC UAS DSTU) and Rostvertol have developed two multipurpose drones. This was reported by the university's press service.

New drones are designed for:

  • spraying, crop monitoring
  • checking the condition of power lines, wind farms
  • pollution control, fire monitoring
  • geodetic works
  • logistics and medicine
  • construction
  • defense sector

Key components of the drones are of Russian production, including the battery, propellers, frame and flight controller. The products are made of carbon fiber and aluminum, and run on domestic software.

Characteristics of DSTU drone #1:

  • Dimensions — 450x350x250 mm
  • Weight — 3 kg
  • Speed — 25 m/s
  • Flight time — 35 minutes
  • Payload — 5 kg
  • Maximum altitude — 3 thousand m
  • Navigation — GPS, GLONASS
  • Equipment — remote control, 10-inch screen

Characteristics of DSTU drone #2:

  • Dimensions — 500x580x540 mm
  • Take-off weight — 16 kg
  • Speed — 20 m/s
  • Weight without battery — 5.5 kg
  • Battery capacity — 30,000 mAh

Both drones have successfully passed bench and flight tests. During the tests, engineers confirmed that they meet the specified characteristics.
