The first experiments using synchrotron radiation will be carried out at the station

The equipment of the first experimental station of the fourth-generation synchrotron "Siberian Ring Photon Source (SKIF)" was assembled near Novosibirsk. The new megascience facility will be the first in Russia and the most powerful synchrotron radiation source of generation 4+ with an energy of 3 GeV in the world.

It is at this station that the first experiments using synchrotron radiation will be carried out. The universal equipment will allow solving a wide range of scientific tasks in the fields of chemistry, physics, biology, geology, ecology, medicine and pharmaceuticals.

The station is mounted in a special "house" with lead protection, ensuring radiation safety. Synchrotron radiation generated in the storage ring will be transmitted through primary preparation systems and transport channels to stations located in the experimental hall.

The work of SKIF will be aimed at scientific research and training. The station's infrastructure will also be available for educational programs, advanced training courses and thematic conferences.

The launch of SKIF was postponed from 2024 to the end of 2025. In mid-November, the readiness of the complex was more than 95%.
