On the Direct Line, combined with Vladimir Putin's major press conference, a journalist from Novosibirsk asked the President of the country how the head of state assesses the creation and development of the SKIF center in Novosibirsk, which scientists were able to create under sanctions. This is a center for collective use in the science city of Koltsovo, representing a source of synchrotron radiation of generation 4+ with an energy of 3 GeV.
This topic arose during the meeting of the Council for Science. We held it in 2018, when colleagues from the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences spoke about the need to create SKIF. There were delays due to sanctions issues. We managed to complete this work. This is a success.
According to him, with the help of SKIF, it is possible to conduct research of a fundamental and applied nature, in pharmaceuticals and much more.
The journalist also asked the President how to stimulate the work of Russian scientists in the country and motivate them. Putin replied that it is necessary to increase the level of wages, improve the places where a person lives, and there is also a system of grants. The President of the Russian Federation stressed that it is necessary to create a horizon of research for them.
Separately, the head of state noted that scientists who left the country are returning to our country.
Why did they return? One of the main reasons is that we worry about our children. People make decisions to return to their homeland, and there are more and more of them.
