Complexes with medium-range ballistic missiles (MRBM) "Oreshnik" will be deployed in Belarus at the former military airfield Krichev in the Mogilev region. This was reported by Reuters, citing satellite images.
Researchers Jeffrey Lewis from the Middlebury Institute in California and Decker Eveleth from the CNA organization in Virginia expressed confidence that mobile launchers "Oreshnik" were placed in this place, by 90%. The airfield is located 478 km southwest of Moscow and 307 km east of Minsk.
Satellite data shows accelerated construction of facilities characteristic of a strategic missile base: protected railway infrastructure for missile delivery and disguised launch sites
American researchers believe that the size of the Krichev airbase is only suitable for three "Oreshnik" launchers, and the rest can be placed elsewhere.
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said a few days ago that a total of up to 10 "Oreshnik" launchers will appear in the republic, without mentioning the specific location of the missile systems.
Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Belarus Pavel Muraveiko noted that the deployment of the "Oreshnik" complex takes only a few minutes. The configuration of the missile system also became known.
