This was stated in the welcoming speech of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the participants of the V Congress of Young Scientists in Sirius.

It is important to increase the role of the scientific community in solving strategic tasks of Russia's development, strengthening national technological and industrial sovereignty. And for this, stimulate investment in the most promising research.
According to the head of state, the forum over the past years has become a significant event, which was attended by domestic and foreign scientists, representatives of authorities and business circles. Engineers and business representatives are discussing fundamental and applied research, showing their developments and achievements. Putin wished the participants of the event to implement in practice all the proposals that will be announced during the forum.
Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, who spoke next, said that over the five years of the Congress of Young Scientists, the number of forum participants has increased threefold to 9,000 people, and the event has become the second largest after SPIEF.
40% of the delegates have academic degrees, so it is safe to say that the most talented, most ambitious minds of our country have gathered here.
The politician added that the scientific and technical base remains a reserve for sustainable development of Russia. The authorities are doing everything necessary to achieve technological leadership.
