The presentation of the MC-21 medium-range passenger aircraft, one of the first fully import-substituted airliners in the history of modern Russia, took place at the National Center "Russia". According to Vasily Prutkovsky, Managing Director of PJSC "Yakovlev", more than 50,000 highly qualified specialists are involved in the project, and the cooperation includes 120 first-tier suppliers and about 4,000 second-tier companies.
We are solving the problem of technological sovereignty. First of all, I would tell passengers that they are flying on an airplane made by the hands, intellect and pride of more than 50 thousand people. It has not only wide aisles, comfort and convenience, but also the future of domestic aviation.
According to him, the creation of a fully domestic airliner has become both a complex technological challenge and a strategic breakthrough. Such large-scale cooperation, according to Prutkovsky, lays the foundation for the formation of a sustainable and independent ecosystem for the production of modern civil aircraft in Russia.
He also noted that the main task at the current stage is to achieve technological sovereignty in aircraft construction. At the same time, the potential of the MC-21 project, according to him, goes far beyond import substitution and opens up prospects for export presence and further modernization of the domestic aviation industry.
