"Our country will become a technological leader": production of photonic integrated circuits launched in test mode in Moscow

From June 2026, it is planned to produce up to 500 thousand units annually

The Moscow Center for Photonics was opened in Zelenograd, on the territory of the Technopolis Moscow SEZ - a unique production of photonic integrated circuits, which became the first in the world to use three technologies at once. The launch of the enterprise was given by the Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia Anton Alikhanov and the Mayor of Moscow Sergei Sobyanin.

The products of the center will become the basis for the introduction of 5G technologies in Russia, the development of unmanned transport and the construction of new data processing centers. Photonic integrated circuits are compact, have high speed of transmission and processing of information, and also consume energy efficiently. They allow reducing the cost of the final product by 30–50% compared to foreign analogues.

Our country will become a technological leader thanks to the creation of a critically important information infrastructure.
Sergei Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow

The opening of the Moscow Testing Laboratory of Microelectronics is expected in the first quarter of 2026. The new site will replace 70% of the services of foreign laboratories, which are necessary for the development of most high-tech industries.

During the first six months of operation, the center will operate in test mode. From June 2026, it is planned to increase the production of products to 500 thousand units per year. In the future, the site will also establish the production of optical modules that simplify the connection of network equipment to fiber-optic communication lines.

Earlier www1.ru reported that GS Nanotech does not plan reductions after the completion of the experiment on the assembly of Baikal-M chips.
