An-22 is a heavy military transport turboprop aircraft developed in the USSR by the Antonov Design Bureau and first took to the air in 1965. It is the world's largest aircraft with turboprop engines. As of 2025, less than 10 such machines remain in service, most of which are operated by the Russian Federation, mainly in the interests of the Ministry of Defense. The average age of the operating An-22 exceeds 45 years, which makes them one of the most "aged" active transport aircraft in the world.
